At 6’1, 215 pounds, Steve Dombowski was an All Conference Lineman for our football team and wrestled in the heavyweight division back when heavyweights were over 250 pounds.  Each meet he was frequently matched up against wrestlers that outweighed him by at least 35 pounds, but that didn’t stop Steve from outworking his opponent.  He brought that same determination to the throwing circles in track.  

As a Senior, Steve won both the Shot and Discus in every regular season Meet on our schedule, a stat not one thrower in Chenango Forks History had accomplished before...  When he graduated, Steve was ranked 3rd in Shot and 5th in Disc All Time.  He stayed in the Top Ten in both events for thirty years and is currently still ranked 8th in shot and 13th in Disc over 40 years after his last competitive meet.
