Blue Devils Improve to 2–0 with Strong Wins Over Owego on Senior Night
Chenango Forks Track and Field improved to 2-0 on the season Tuesday night with commanding victories on both the boys and girls sides over Owego. The boys won 83-56 and the girls won 90-38 in a meet that featured event sweeps across the board, multiple individual wins, and a stadium record from junior Lincoln Raab.
Honoring Our Seniors
Tuesday night was also Senior Night for Chenango Forks Track and Field. The program recognized seniors Alyx Clutz, Jake Clutz, Michael Moppert, Jaime Prince, Jacob Robinson, and Jaxon Krupp. Their leadership, work ethic, and contributions across the sprint, distance, throwing, and hurdles groups have shaped this team. Several of them factored directly into the night's results, capping off a special evening with both a celebration and two wins.
Lincoln Sets Stadium Record in the 200
The night's headline performance came from Lincoln, who broke the Blue Devils Stadium Record in the 200m with a time of 22.3. The previous record was set last year by Lincoln’s older brother Nate. Previous to that, the record has stood 41 years! The Blue Devils swept the 200 behind him, with Brysen Fry and Abdul Bumbrey, not only finishing second and third, but each also placing in the Top 15 All Time in Schol history in the event, making this one of the most historic races in the history of our program.
Sprint Group Dominates
Overall, the boys sprint group had a dominating night. Lincoln, Abdul, Brysen, and Max Harkness won the 4x100 relay. Max and Brysen went 1-2 in the 100. Max also added a runner-up finish in the 400. Our boys also swept the long jump with Lincoln, Brysen, and Chase Tuttle taking the top three spots.
The girls were equally dominant. The 4x100 relay team of Lily Packard, Olivia Dobbish, Maya Padmanabhan, and Patty Su took the win. The girls swept the 100m with Jaime Prince, Maya, and Dahlia Brando-Gordon going 1-2-3. Grace Harkness and Lily went 2-3 in the 200, with Grace Harkness and Avery Raab picking up runner-up finishes in the 400 and 400 hurdles. Giuliana Michitti added a win in the 100 hurdles.
Distance Group Anchors a Big Night
The girls distance group continued their strong start to the season. Ceci Kasmarcik won the 800. Arianna Hepler finished second in the 1500. Michaela Wood and Becca Yahner went 2-3 in the 3000m, with Michaela making her debut in the event. The girls 4x400 relay of Ceci, Grace Hogan, Arianna, and Avery closed the meet with another win, completing a sweep of the girls relays alongside the 4x800 relay team of Becca, Michaela, Alyx Clutz, and Grace Hogan.
The boys distance group brought their own depth. Joe Rullo finished second in the 1600 and second in the 3200, while Porter Sirgany made his 3200m debut and finished alongside him. Senior Jake Clutz added a second place finish in the 800.
Field Events Carry the Team
The girls had an amazing day in the field. They swept the high jump with Patty Su, Giuliana, and Izzy Hepler. They swept the long jump with Olivia, Izzy, and Giuliana Michitti . Maya won the pole vault. Lily won the triple jump. And Jillian Howell completed a clean sweep of the throwing events, winning both the shot put and discus.
The boys held their own as well. Jackson James won the pole vault with Ryan Vasina making his debut and finishing second. Dylan Raab and Camden Sturdevant went 2-3 in the triple jump. Sam Paske and Michael Moppert flipped roles in the throws. Sam and Michael went 1-3 in the discus, and Michael and Sam went 1-3 in the shot put.
Hurdles Add to the Total
Senior Jaxon Krupp added two strong runner-up finishes for the boys, taking second in both the 110 hurdles and the 400 hurdles. Giuliana added a win in the 100 hurdles.
A True Team Win
What made the night special wasn't any single performance. It was that the Blue Devils scored everywhere. Sprints, distance, field, throws, hurdles. Boys side and girls side. Underclassmen and seniors. Athletes making their debuts and athletes setting stadium records. It was a complete program competing the way it trains and coming through to send our Seniors off in style.
Here are our 2026 Seniors:
Alyx and Jacob Clutz are represented by Mary Clutz.
Alyx was also a member of our soccer and basketball teams. She plans to attend Houghton University and study Pre-Dental and Biology (as well as play soccer). Her favorite event to run in track is the 4 by 800 Meter Relay because she loves the environment that relays encourage. She would like to thank her parents and her brother for pushing her to be a better athlete. She would also like to thank Clara, Ceci, and Katherine for sticking by her side and always cheering for her. Lastly she would like to remind the underclassmen to push yourself during the season and not take your time here for granted because it goes by so fast.
Jake was a mainstay on our Boys Soccer Team and is a Two-time State Meet Participant for our Indoor Track Team as a member of the 1600 Meter Relay. His favorite event in Outdoor is the 800, and he was a Class Champion in the Steeplechase last year. He would like to thank his parents for their support and encouragement. He would also like to give a loud shout out to his sister for being there for him since day one and being more than just a great sister, but also a great friend. He also would like to remind everyone when he pushed Clara in the snow during practice and to push yourself past your limits. Next year he plans on taking a semester off to go to Spain and Costa Rica with his closest friend.
Jaxon Krupp is represented by Carol Krupp.
This is Jaxon’s first year doing Track and is focusing on the hurdles. His favorite venue is our home track as he has literally never competed on any other surface. Jaxon would like to thank his friend and teammate Michael Moppert for always being there for him and always has his back. He would also like to thank Coach Motell for being a great instructor and really opening him up to the sport. Next year Jaxon plans to attend Binghamton University to study political science and economics.
Jacob Robinson is represented by Jennifer Robinson.
Jacob was also a member of our Forks football team. He prefers the discus over the shot, and chooses MacDonald’s for his Pre-Game meal to get that extra spin on the disc. Tonka would like to thank his mother for always supporting him in sports and Coach Paske for helping each athlete individually, but also knowing that when the Throwers are all in it together, we are at our best. Jacob would also like to thank Walker Paske and Dustin Jump for convincing him to do Track. His favorite memory of track was his junior year when he and Jesse Stephens played DMX and coach Paske demanded it be left on and turned up! His future plans are to attend BCC and study sports management or exercise science.
Michael Moppert is represented by Tracey Yuhasse.
Mike was also a member of our Forks Football team. He would like to thank Coach Paske for getting him back into throwing and seeing him in his best light. Mike would also like to thank Jacob Robinson for being his Day One and for being such a great teammate. He would also like to thank Jaxon Krupp for being a great friend and he is so happy Jaxon decided to do track this year. His favorite Track memory was running the Throwers Relay at our own Rotary Relays. His future plans include going to Broome before going on to a four year school to study criminal psychology.
Jamie Prince is represented by Melissa and Craig Sheer.
Jamie was also a member of our soccer and Indoor Track Teams. Her pre-meet meal is Cheez-Its and her favorite event is the Long Jump. She would like to thank herself for inspiring herself which makes her mentally feel great. Her best memory was falling at her first meet doing the hurdles in Owego and still winning the race. She wants to thank the coaches and her teammates for making this sports fun, her parents for always picking her up from the late night meets and early morning practices on weekends, and her oldest sister for showing up for the Ithaca meet to show her support. Jamie lastly wanted to say that she wishes she could've gone far and continued this season with her teammates, but wishes you all good luck.
