Girls Win the Tornado 5000 with the Boys having a solid 3rd place showing
What a day in Norwich for the long blue line at the Tornado 5000! This was a smaller by competitive meet this week with some Class C powerhouses. Our athletes showed up and competed with the same energy they brought to Fortin Park last week.
The girls were absolutely dominant today. Chenango Forks won the meet outright. Clara Little led the way with a second place overall finish at 20:56, finishing 8 seconds behind the winner. Lena Lindow was right there in third at 21:54. Katherine Yahner, Rebecca Yahner, and Grace Harkness rounded out our scoring five. Katherine and Becca both ran 5K PRs today!
The boys had a strong showing as well with a third place team finish. Joe Rullo continues to be outstanding, finishing third overall at 18:02 and running a 5K PR in the process. Liam VanValkenburg was next for us in seventh at 19:02 and Jackson James right behind him in ninth at 19:04. Mitchell VanValkenburg, Hunter Cosgriff, Tristyn Motell, Tyler Andrews, Jackson Kilmer, and Jonah Sanford all competed and contributed to the team effort today.
Through two meets the long blue line is already demonstrating great improvement. Our athletes are doing everything the coaches are asking of them and working extremely hard! Next week we will be traveling to Baldwinsville for a highly competitive meet. This is an extremely large meet so make sure you get there early! Be on the lookout Monday for our weekly harrier with additional information.
